Hi i am using dreamweaver 4 and i have made a form now wish to post it to and email account, but i was wondering how to set a post button without the post trying to come from the users email, as whenever you press the button it wishes to bring up their email account to send message.

To send form data through email, without relying on the visitor's email client, you must use a server side scripting language and have a mail server you can send through.

The form submits to the server side form processing code and that code formats and sends the email.

Ok, are we talking a special kind of email account or can we say set up a hotmail account and send it server side from that. I dont wish to use a hotmail account but as an example. If so what code do i need and what info.

Your web host usually provides a mail server for this purpose.

You can send through your mail box on hotmail/yahoo/gmail..., but you must use SMTP authentication to get them to accept mail from a remote server side scripting language.

The bigger question is what server side scripting language do you have available on your web server?

If you just want to test your code locally and send through a public mail server, here are some links with additional information -
