What would be considered good stats

My site was launched on 1 June 2007 and its existence is being spread by word of mouth.
In June I had about 30 registrations, in July about 120 and so far in August about 30.
It seems between 1 in 4 and 1 in 7 visitors register.
How do these stats appear. Are they good, bad, average or what?
Any ideas?

Impossible to say without some idea of what the site is about.

1 in 4 register for free money?
1 in 4 register to give away money?

Generally though a 25% conversion rate is pretty awesome whatever you're selling.
