I tried to install PHP on windows but had some problems

I tried to install PHP on windows but had some problems. Now when I try and use the installer from the php website I get a dialog saying

"there is a problem with this windows installer.
A script required ....could not be run etc"

any ideas on how to fix this?

ALso after I finish the installer I get a dialog saying Php 5.2.3 ended prematurely

Don't use the installer. Either use the binary package or one of these programs that install everything for you like XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html).

I tried to remove the php in my computer I set up in the computer with the installer but "add or remove programs" gives me

go to C:\ and remove the PHP folder and all its contents

What version of Windows are you trying to install this on?

I have no problems installing PHP on to my server running windows.

download this zip package http://www.php.net/get/php-5.2.3-Win32.zip/from/a/mirror
and extract to to C:\PHP or something like that and you have a working version of php

is that enough, what about the registery?
