sessions

i need to have a person stay logged in during their browse of a site. Once they login, I have a cookie placed on them locally. Now the client wants it to say "Welcome USERSNAME" in the flash banner during browsing the site. I'm guessing I need to learn some about sessions... can anyone point me to a good tutorial that does this?

I think the tutorial at W3 Schools is pretty good coverage of the basics and that is all you will need to do what you are talking about.
