My Skills: - XHTML/CSS
- PhotoShop
- Simple PHP stuff (just started learning, will improve with time)

Needed: Someone to help with server-side scripting that will be beyond my scope.

The Idea: All around the world tragic events occur from small to major ones. Often people need a place to express there emotions, or atleast offer there condolonces to the victims. This is were our site will comes into play.

How it will work:The home page will get news feeds on recent news events from things like soliders who have recently dies in combat, deaths of icons in pop-culture, and other tragic events (plane crash, terrorist attacks ect..) Each article wont envolve much text, it will mainly be a header and image and a very brief summery followed by a link called "express your condulonses". Users can then click on the link and it will bring them to a page that will act like a message board, or guestbook where they can express there condolonses to the victims.

there will also be a section where ppl can list there own area for condonlses of people close to them. it will kinda of by like a blog where anyway can right a message.

Thats the basic outline to it

Sounds like Have your Say from the BBC.....and most news channels these days offer similar services any way.

I think the competition is already too high to get involved, but good luck anyway.

Hmm, I don't think those are what I am talking about,

I'm trying to think of ideas that that will be like a mass online blog in which anybody can just post right onto the main page.
Perhaps a better way to described it would be a site in which the shout box is the main content.

this is why i had the idea of making it a site to express condolences as there will actully be a use and meaning behind the user input, and even if nobody reads what other user write people would still post condolences.

then people can make personal pages for when people close to them die. It would kinda be like a cross of the o*****uary section in the newspaper & myspace.

Make sure you build in a moderator approval system because there are a lot of sick and stupid people out there that would get off on desecrating these online memorials.

An "auto" moderator system might work in this situation. Each entry could have a "compliant" button, 3 unique complaints and the post is temporarily deleted until the webmaster restores the post or delete permanently. How the "compliant" button works would be kept secret to avoid users playing around with it, maybe 3 complaints or 5 complaints might activate the temporary deletion.
