Showing New profiles since the last visit

Hi Guys,

what i was wanting to do is, when a user comes back to my site i have (NEW) besides the profiles they haven't seen before, but as soon as they refresh the page or go away and come back the (NEW) is gone, i was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to acomplish this?

Store the date of when members register.

In the code that shows the "new" icon, change it to show it next to any profiles that were created in the last x days.
