View Full Version : Trying to Convert from Tables to Divs

I have been at this for 2 full days now and can't seem to get the positioning correct. My site is www.Yodyo.com, If you look at it in Firefox the top works, if you look at it in IE the alignment is all screwy. Plus the Users Online Block is way bigger then its set for. I can't figure it out, and I was suggested to try and switch from tables to divs for several reasons, so now I am trying that but I am having a few problems getting the divs set up correctly.

Here is what I currently have in terms of CSS and DIVS

<style type="text/css" media="screen"><!--body {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
div#header {
clear: both;
height: 50px;
background-color: aqua;
padding: 1px;
div#left {
float: left;
width: 275px;
background-color: red;
div#right {
float: right;
width: 225px;
background-color: green;
div#middle {
padding: 0px 160px 5px 160px;
margin: 0px;
background-color: silver;
div#footer {
clear: both;
background-color: yellow;

<div id="header">
<div id="left">
Port side text...
<div id="right">
Starboard side text...
<div id="middle">
Middle column text...
<div id="footer">
Footer text...

My problem is I can't figure out how to set up the header like the current yodyo.com (looks in firefox) header is set up using the divs. I think it would be like this

Categories ---------------Blank Space---------RSS Feeds Images
Logo-----------[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[Google Ad]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]
Search------------------{{{{{{{{{{{{Log In Section}}}}}}}}}}

Any tips?
