getting java irc bot to connect to channels

does anyone know how to do this ?
it connects to the server and i can send it a pm but i would like it to moderate a channel

What java irc api are you using? pIRC? Deaded's BotEd?

I personally suggest using DeadEd's BotEd. I'm a contributer on that project and have found it's ease of use to be the highest quality, including if you read the directions.

But if you aren't using that, what are you using?
