What's the trick to keeping a menu up long enough to reach the links?

Here's my example that doesn't stay up long enough

I tried increasing the hit area but then the whole area triggers the change but I want it to only trigger where my text is at the top, But then stay up as long as the curser is over any part of the shape.

I'm no flash expert, but you could create a button over the movieclip that keeps the menu open whilst the button is hovered over. When the mouse hovers over the link, the menu appears and a button appears too the same size as the drop down menu so that it will only disappear when the mouse is moved out of that new area?
