Hi guys!

First I want to thank all who have helped me here on the forums - without that help I wouldn't have made this!

Ok, back on topic. I have finally coded the main page, which is W3C valid and should look good in most browsers (in IE 5.5 and below it won't). I would ask you to have a look and tell me what you think about the design, navigation, banner and what else u might have in mind.

Remember that only the main page is finished, so you won't get to any of the pages linked to in the menu...Yet :)

Thanks.

Oh, and the link: http://www.xflightx.port10.com/test/main-layout.php

Not 800x600 friendly.
To dark for my liking, no hover on navigation.

Pretty good for your first layout.

Lol yeah, sorry - designed for 1024 x 768 and above :)
You mean on the buttons, right?

Not 800x600 friendly.

Just how long do we have to be friendly to the 800x600 crowd? Let 'em scroll. :D

Seriously though, I don't know any flight sim people using low res.

Nice work, CaptainB. Good to see you here.

True, but it is nice to design for everyone.
Logo is quite big, might take long to load for dial up users.

Hehe, exactly kewlceo! ;)

Btw are u also one of "the flightsim dudes" ? :)

@twodayslate: Uhm, it's only 106 kb...I think that most users have broadband these days...And if they don't? Well, then it might not take that long anyways :p

Thanks you guys for replying!

Indeed. I hang out at FlightSimWorld.com (http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/).

@twodayslate: It is designed for everyone. Everyone else can just scroll, lol. :D

Just telling you what I think, that does not mean you have to do it.

FlightSimWorld has a much for cleaner feel.

True, but it still has the clean feel.

Do you think your own site has a "clean feel"?

Neither is FlightSimWorld.com, so be fair, please. :)

We were comparing both sites. They both had the same topic but looked different. Flightsim is lighter and xflight is darker.

It's clean, it works, I like it. One thing I'm not too sure about is on your left navigation menu that has the secondary level of navigation, I don't think you need a second level for the 'home' button because that does not have a number of options, just the one, so you should just be able to click that home button to return home.

Other than that... nice!

Thanks, ahallicks!

I can see what you mean. However I plan to make the buttons clickable too, so that u will be able to return to home as you say. :)
