I am attempting a simple effect as I start out with Flash by creating text that slowly fades into view. The .fla is here (http://www.doriennesmith.com/working/test.fla). I have been trying to follow this (http://www.knowflash.com/content/view/87/27/) tutorial and I think I am following the steps properly, however, when I test the movie, the first letter (which is the only letter so far with the effect) just pops into view instead of fading in the way it should. I tried lengthening amount of frames for the effect, but that does not change anything and adjusting the frame rate in either direction does not create the desired effect either.

There are eight letters in the effect and if I could just get a little help with the first letter, I could figure out the rest, but I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

Many thanks!

You haven't finished the tutorial yet. Check out the last part. Attached is the final working FLA if it helps. Here (http://img479.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aerobj3.swf) is the result.

Personally I would use the extension here http://laco.wz.cz/tween/?page=download along with this tutorial http://tutorialoutpost.com/view/6152

It cuts down file size tremendously because you don't need so many frames for the effect. The final result using the extension and the tutorial is here (http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tweenwithoutframescz2.swf).

Also attached is the fla file that uses the extension. The documentation for the extension can be found here (http://laco.wz.cz/tween/documentation.pdf). Its in PDF format.

Well, I could not open the flash file (I think we are using different versions), but I decided to use the other method instead. Thanks Aero! You are always a great teacher. :D

Oh yeah, sorry. I'm using Flash CS3.
