Of the OS's I have dealt with, XP is by far the fastest... I feel it won't make a difference...

When I first started up my new system running XP, it was at the login screen before I sat back up in my chair from pushing the power button. Now it takes on average around 5-7 seconds to boot up.

My Sony VAIO 2.4 GHz Windows XP machine takes about 30 to startup and logon to an account.

In 30 seconds I can do a whole lot of things.

So, is that Microsoft program going to help me or just cause (more) problems?

I like the bit on boot that says "Evaluation BIOS - not for resale":D

After that mine takes a moment for my Raid 0 controller card to kick in and allow me time to enter setup etc. I don't mind a slow in startup when I can install programs in 30 seconds

There are a range of adjustments you can do; selective startup, disable the splash screen, adjust a few bios things like switching the floppy off first boot device... I found WinME the quickest personally.

30 seconds... :'(
Sometimes my computer takes an hour or two if I'm lucky. After Probably 5 -6 restarts due to it freezing.
