Hey everybody... and a 'glad to be back' to about the two or three of you who probably remember me. I was "me" back in the day, untill the Webmasters Pit (R.I.P.) shut down and I left.

So now I return with a terrible problem... get the Kleenex ready.... For some reason, no Java works on my computer. It did before, but it does no more (hooray for poetry). Now I can't play all those wonderful games like Javanoid, and Snake. I tried to go to Sun's website, but it is soooo confusing, and there's no technical help for people who are just plain stupid... it's all for Java programmers. I tried reinstalling, and I checked the internet tools thing, but nothing has worked. I probably woulda had this figured out two or three years ago, but I've stopped programming all together and now I gotta be the whinin' newbie at these forums. (OK, sorry for being overdramatic.... but I had to make the post interesting, right?)

So hi everybody... feel free to IM me or e-mail me or somethin' like that. I probably won't be stopping back too often... school, the outside world... stuff like that has been keeping me off the forums ya know. Ahh.. and I just saw that WA archive. Good work keeping that up. Gotta remember those days... this place was sooo fun. Like our record for longest thread.... great stuff.

P.S. Anybody know whatever happened to drevilnz? I can't remember his website address, and last time I was here, he had dissapeared.

Are you running Windows XP? If so thats why there isn't Java support. Dumb microshafts fault. They decided not to include java support by default.

You can download the JVM here: http://java.sun.com/getjava/

And actually there is a JVM on XP... It can only be obtained with SP1...

After getting and installing SP1... Open IE and goto Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced; scroll down until you get to the Microsoft VM section; select JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires restart) and hit 'OK'...

Oh and oracle, your partially right... They decided not to include it, but it was because of a lawsuit with Sun...

Actually, I downlaoded the JVM... well at least I thought I did... under control panel it definately says Java Plug-in. And I'm not using xp... I have '98. It's always worked on this computer before, but it suddenly stopped.

P.S.... I'm way too lazy to bother starting a new thread for this, but at Best Buy we saw some computer that had like a TV built in or something. The tower had TV/Music/PC/Video buttons in it. It was like $2200, so I'll probably never get it, but does anybody have info on these things? I've never seen it before (I haven't been into computers at all for the past year so i'm behind)... cause if they're worth it, and they work like normal comps and actually have some practical uses... we might be saving up some money for something like it.
