I just followed instructions for embedding an mp3 file on a web page using Dreamweaver. I used the Plug-in icon and selected the file from the folder I created in my website, but it does not work when I preview it in the browser. I am a novice a website development, so if it can be explained in a simple way, I would appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!

Post the code dreamweaver created for you. Personally I would use flash to play videos or audio. I prefer the player found here http://www.*******************/?item=Flash+Mp3+Player

<embed src="/Sound/Poulenc%20Duo.mp3" width="20" height="20"></embed>
This is the code from when I put the file in the website. When I read the book, it mentioned that I should also add the sound player. There are no instructions on how to do so, so I tried putting it into the same sound file (by copying and pasting the application) in which I saved the mp3 file.
Fundamentally, I don't understand how this works and as such I am unable to figure out what the problem is. For example, if I save a picture to a folder and place it in the website, anyone can see it. I have a sound file, and my computer defaults to the Windows Media Player, but I cannot see the icon for the plug-in nor is the file present.

Try using the generator found here. http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php Make sure your song is uploaded to your web host.
