Please rate my new design

A while ago I posted this design (http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=114885). I haven't really found the motivation to fix that layout, however, I did come up with a new one: http://jero.net/lab/redesign2/

I wanted to be sure the design would be good before I'd waste my time coding a layout no one would like anyway.

I now changed the background. Personally I love this (simple) effect, but I'm wondering if this really is an improvement over the previous background.

God dammit! Why can't I create something like that :(
It looks great, simple is better, love the top graphic/logo too, very Web 2.0!

One thing, which is not overly important to you and I'm sure you'll fix when you actually start building it: you have an invalid doctype and as such the code is rendering very strangely behind the scenes! (Looks fine on the site tho)

Thanks for the warning, but I think working with HTML5 (http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/) a lot recently got me lazy when it comes to DOCTYPEs (http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/section-writing.html#the-doctype). ;)

not bad, looks similar to a wordpress default design theme. Overall the layout is friendly and easy to navigate. I would suggest you try making the right column more interesting like changing it's color. Anyway, overall its a nice template.

Just for the logo, when you resize the width you can see the overlap. Not that big of a deal.

Also I looked at the older redesign and I like the logo with the yellow dot.
