substitutes for Microsoft Word

Do you know any substitutes for Microsoft Word? Mine takes for ever to come up. I wonder if there is a freeware version of a wordprocessing program available.

As a matter of fact there is. Its called OpenOffice (http://openoffice.org). Does pretty much the same thing as MS Office, even has a powerpoint like program.

I just bought a laptop in preperation of college next year... I don't hate MS, but I wasn't going to pay $200 or whatever to get MS Office when I can download a good equivalent for free... Plus, I LOVE the export to PDF feature!
