See if this works

window.parent.frames[1].location.href.reload();

See if this works

window.parent.frames[1].location.href.reload();
That won't work. reload is a method of location object and href is a string and not an object, thus it cannot have a method.

The original code should work.

window.parent.frames[1].location.reload();

This code means that the 2nd frame in the frameset of the parent window is reloaded. I assume this code is in a frame (presumably the first frame in the frameset).

You can also name the frame and refer to it by name rather than by its frame index.

window.parent.frames["nameOfTheTargetFrame"].location.reload();
