The short version:
The My Pictures folder/shortcut has disappeared from the Start Menu. Where did it go and how do I get it back?

The longer version:
My dad decided he didn't want Firefox anymore and uninstalled it. He also uninstalled Adobe Reader and maybe something else. Then his url shortcuts on his desktop didn't work. So he restored to the previous day. Still they did not work. So he phoned me. I got his shortcuts working again (set IE as default). But then he says the My Pictures has disappeared from the Start Menu (over there on the right hand side, in the blue, where things can't be moved to or deleted from). He says it was just there. Since that's how he accesses his photos, and that's mostly what he uses his computer for, I have to believe him. Where could it have gone and can it be restored? How?

Thanks!

Hmm sounds like he switched to the classic start menu somehow.

There are still the two panes. The right side still has My Computer and My Documents and My Music, it's just missing My Pictures. Weird, right?
And yes, it has been rebooted to see if it would reset itself, but it didn't.

Okay right click on the start menu, go to properties > Click Start Menu tab > Make sure "Start Menu" is selected > Click Customize > Click Advanced tab > Go to "Start Menu Items" section > Scroll down till you see My Pictures > Make sure it says display as link > Click OK > Click OK
