Embedding uncommon fonts

There's a way to embed characters into a text field, in case you're using an uncommon font, but I can't remember what it is. Does anyone else know how to do it?

That's not what I meant. I mean embed certain characters into a text field within a flash movie in case the user/viewer's computer doesn't have the font you used. Then, the embedded characters would display normally, as if the user had the font.
