DOM Select Options

I have two select boxes. The first one has a main category and based off of the first answer I want the second one to hide certain items.

For example:

1st box: Fruits, Veggies
2nd Box: Apple, Pear, Carrot, Celery, Orange, Potato

So if you choose Fruits you should only see Apple, Pear, Orange
OR
If you choose Veggies you should only see Carrot, Celery, Potato

But you you did not choose Fruits or Veggies all items should be listed.

Is there a way via the DOM to hide and show Options Items in a select box?

Just set the items that you don't want equal to null. This only works on NN and IE though.
