I will pay someone $10.00 to code in a small script for me, the coding is there, but needs to be adjusted a little and put in. I can explain more in a email. This would be in PHP. Shouldn't take longer then 15 - 20 minutes to do.

Debugging an already written script that doesn't do what it's supposed to do could take hours or even days. You might want to update your price to an hourly rate or a price range to allow for worst case scenario.

No not debugging. I guess my post wasn't as clear as I thought it was.
There is "stat bars" where it increases with more that you do. It's already coded in for other aspects, but im horrible with php (I didn't write the script), and just need the stat bars made for the other things, which is currently only text.

My car has a problem. It mostly works. I can turn left, but when I turn right, it doesn't turn. This should be really easy to fix as the car already can turn left. I'm willing to pay $10.

See how silly that sounds?

Programming, just like any other profession, requires knowledge and ability. It also requires understanding of the problem. If you went to a mechanic with a problem and told them that you'd pay $10 to have access to their skill set, you'd have a hard time getting a car fixed. The same is true of programmers. Even though your script may work in most cases, the fact that you need a modification will require a programmer to:

1) Understand what needs to be done
2) Understand how the code works
3) Identify the problem
4) Fix the problem

Timeframes for this could vary for each of the items above from 15 minutes to several hours or more. A respectable wage for a programmer in the US is at least $50 / hour, more for an experienced programmer. Heck I know programmers that charge $125 / hour and are turning down work because they're too busy.

Not trying to flame you, just stating that $10 may be very unrealistic. My suggestion is to either

a) try to establish a long term relationship with someone you can trust to handle issues like this or
b) find a friend or co-worker that may be able to help you or
c)try to figure out the issue and post questions in the PHP forum or
d) re-consider your budget.

I give up on this forum. You can ban me or delete my account. I don't care, every single time I want help im flamed. I have wrote a whole notepad document of where things are in the script and what to change. Not hard to copy something and put it somewhere else. Its easier then you think it is. But whatever im done.

sounds like a bit of a cut and paste job - if I'm interpretting correctly what you're wanting - you have graphical stat bars for some stats and for others you just have text numbers and you want the ones with just text to be graphical also?
how easy it is depends on how the code is written. Like I said, seems like an easy cut n paste or function call but if you're just going to hand a person 10 pages of php and say ok this is what I need then they're most likely going to laugh at your $10.

While the job sounds fairly simple $10 doesnt even cover the administration costs of a professional developer. You say it should take 15 minutes but I know a lot of freelancers (and companies) have a minimum charge of 1 hour - to soak communication and admin costs. Its not unheard of to spend 10 minutes coding after spending over an hour getting the client to describe what they want you to do, if you only charge for the 10 minutes of coding you're out of pocket a whole hour.

You might have better luck just posting in the php forum, see if someone can help you do it yourself - seriously, $10 is an insult to a professional developer, its not worth the hassle of writing up an invoice and logging it in your accounts.

If its so easy why not do it yourself?

Maybe the reason you get 'flamed' (though I see very little evidence of that going through your past topics) is that you have unrealistic expectations. If you want someone to write you scripts for $4-40 or take on jobs that pay $10 then go to http://www.getafreelancer.com/ I'm sure you'll have tons of indians and eastern europeans undercutting each other to get your money but you should know by now that you wont find that here.

And you know what? If it just takes 10 minutes for a PHP savvy person why don’t you just put it in the PHP forum, asking what do do with that? I guess there will be someone who can tell you (or do it for you), and that’s complimentary.

I think you are probably better off leaving. That sounds bad coming from me but if you get this upset over something that we tell you that is all true, I can't imagine how you will react if we tell you something else about code or whatever and you don't agree with us because you think you know everything. As the others have said if you think its so easy then do it yourself and save your 10 dollars.
