How do I unplug a Flash/Jump Drive?

What is the procedure for unplugging a flash jump USB drive from a PC
running Windows 98SE? As long as the access lamp is not flashing can I
just unplug it or should I right button click on It's icon in My
computer folder and first select eject before physically unplugging it?

If you see an eject option, safest bet is to use that.

I havent used a flash drive on 98SE for a long time/if ever. I have lost 2 flash drives by just unplugging it without stopping it. Now I always stop it first the unplug
