are these paying jobs or are you just looking for a free ride?

Every one will have an equal share of the profits.

so thats a yes, you are looking for a free ride.

If you want people to work on a 'profit share' basis, you need to give them information on your business plan, marketting and distribution models, sales predictions, timescales, launch date etc.

You should also probably say a little something about the game - genre, usp - language its going to be written in, engine it will run on etc

Agreed (sort of goes without saying), nobody is just going to make a game for you. Do you understand the work involved? It's no simple task, the maths and programming skills required are pretty hefty – and at the risk over generalising: The people who have those skills aren't 12, don't live at home with their parents and have responsibilities such that they can't just cast away months and months of time to build something based on 2 sentences that some 12 year old wannabe posted on an Internet forum.

Now I'm sure someone will probably think I'm being a little too harsh here, but these kids need to be outside playing sport and actually being kids not attempting to form teams of developers to create large projects beyond their possible comprehension. The understanding required for this sort of thing is just more than any 12 year old could possibly amount to.

I started learning to program and whatnot much younger than 12, but I did that when I wasn't with my friends building a tree-house riding bikes or annoying the girls next door with firecrackers.

This is just too unrealistic. Just as the idea for a game from the 12 year old before you and the one before him and so on. You need to start on something much much smaller, you're just setting yourself up to fail otherwise.

Besides, it's not the programmers who should be taking the risk. It's your idea you should be backing it. If you had any of the things Nancy mentioned, considering you're only 12, I'd be so damn impressed I would provide venture capital myself. But as it so happens, you are 12 so I'm willing to wager my first born that you wouldn't even have the faintest of ideas about any of it.

Build a 2d flash arcade game, I'm sure that'll take you a fair while but it's definitely a lot more achievable.

If you look through his previous posts you can see he's just a 'get rich quick' kid. 2 weeks ago he was building the next 'myspace'. He's volunteered to get in on the xLive gaming site and describes himself as a coder but not so long ago he couldnt add 1 to a variable :s

Yeah I've just finished reading all his posts. I love how they have the perfect plan, so long as someone will just make it for them then they'll both be so rich!

I have so much time and money invested into my current project, a possibly vain attempt to get on the web 2.0 bandwagon before it goes bust...So much solid research and analysis, how is it that these kids can possibly think that experienced programmers are going to just do all the work on a slim chance they might make some money on it with no guarantee or any research to back it up. It's a huge risk to take.

oooh, what are you working on? Or is it top secret? I think web 2.0 still has a lot of mileage left in it, but very little 'big cash' projects. People look at youtube and myspace and think 'I can do that' and think they're going to be as big, but what they dont realise is that both had millions of dollars behind them. There are very few projects that will make serious money out of nothing.

Not to mention they are established now so it would be that much harder to catch up.

A year or two ago Microsoft banded together with some other big names (I don't remember all the details) to create an online auction system that would rival Ebay...millions of dollars baking it...but most people haven't even heard of it.

If it ain't broken don't fix it!

If you want something that will be the next big thing and that is also based off something that exists you have to have something extra...some spark that will make them want to leave what they are already accustomed to.

Top secret for the time being. Release is still a few months away yet. Much to do, and well with having just started university now I've gotta fit it in around study and freelance work and partying.. My idea isn't new, it was done to some extent a while ago (like pre-year 2000). But I've built it bigger, better, prettier and well I do have a hook, something new on top which makes it different.
