is there anyway to have a custom font on your website?

short answer: no, not really.

long answer:
there's the netscape way, and the microsoft way. the microsoft way is hard and stupid. i didn't have any luck with it when i tried. the two ways, as usual, don't work with the other browser, and i believe, in this case, they won't even run side by side (ie, you can't use both of them).

there are people who claim that there are ways to do this with CSS, but i've never actually seen an example of that, and i find it hard to believe that both Netscape and Microsoft would have special software for this, if it could be done with just css.

yup, you have to A) geta microsoft tool called weft from here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/author/fontembed/font_embed.asp) and then use it! there is a good tutorial on weft at http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/design/fonts/tutorials/tutorial2.html

i'd actually suggest against it. i've used weft. i tried it on some files of mine, to try and get the font i use in AIM on my website. thank god i backed up my files first; weft wiped them clean. they were totally blank. personally, i'd just let this sit until such time as there's a better way of doing it. it's not worth playing with beta microsoft products, and theng having all the minority browser users miss out on it.

im with john on this, i tried weft 5min ago and it really is annoying, and i dont really reel like having my files cleansed. i would put the font you want in your css file and then put another one that everybody has just in case it doesnt work, and put a little link at the bottom of your page to download the font
