rich text editor with region selection option

Hi,

I need to give region selection option for page editing on a rich text editor. Example if i cut and paste the contents of a page on a rich text editor and if i want to select entire left menu box without selecting other contents. Is there anyway to provide that facility. A simple rectangle box tool would suffice.

Is this possible at all, since region selection works with Images and this is text editing. Any suggetion will be appreciated.
