change nickname while keeping yor post countvaleria_vi 12-04-2002, 04:30 PM George, is it possible? jkd 12-04-2002, 08:10 PM George would manually have to edit the MySQL db probably, and since he didn't do it for the thousands of posts some of the older members had from the old UBB forums, I don't think he'd do it at all. It is just a post count after all, not like it means anything. WA 12-04-2002, 09:54 PM If there's a good reason for the username change, and I actually know my way around the relevant SQL commands for VB to change a user's post count, sure. Unfortunately the later is a problem for now. :) Roelf 12-04-2002, 10:03 PM it shouldnt be so hard, when the displayed name is in another column in the database as the login name, if its filled, use the displayed name, if not use the login name. Shouldn't be so hard customising that i suppose valeria_vi 12-05-2002, 02:47 PM oh well, if it is all that trouble, then, it is not worth it. DoubleV 12-05-2002, 07:45 PM ok, here's my first post under a new nick. :p Roelf 12-05-2002, 07:56 PM as far as i can tell, it is a major improvement  DoubleV 12-05-2002, 09:05 PM Originally posted by Roelf as far as i can tell, it is a major improvement  getting that posts count up ... *lol* thanks Roelf! my first job here in the US was customer service rep. we had to sign our initials on all the papers we dealt with. Mine are V.V. (no, it's not how my parents named me. it is by my married name). So people started calling me DoubleV sometimes. My friends don't call me that and I have left that job about 2.5 years ago, but never forgot my "nick". On another forum yesterday people were talking about what their nicknames mean and I thought of mine and realised that it is so boring  and then i remembered about "DoubleV" and thought that it sounds more fun and more "misterious". :p lol changing my internet identity - doesn't that sound freaky? DoubleV 12-05-2002, 09:06 PM wait, why is it still 0??? this is my third post!!! Roelf 12-05-2002, 09:15 PM thats your punishment for changing your nick :D Roelf 12-05-2002, 09:16 PM hey, wait, my post count stays the same also Roelf 12-05-2002, 09:17 PM i think we have a little bug here  DoubleV 12-05-2002, 09:21 PM yeeks! since it was me who discovered it will i get my post count back when the bug is fixed as a reward??? j/k WA 12-05-2002, 10:12 PM Regarding post count not incrementing, it's actually not a bug. Posting in some areas of the forum do not add to your count, namely, this one. cg9com 12-06-2002, 04:31 AM Originally posted by WA Regarding post count not incrementing, it's actually not a bug. Posting in some areas of the forum do not add to your count, namely, this one. why is that? Mhtml 12-15-2002, 09:31 AM Why is that? Well, I think that speaks for itself... What is the whole forum for? Now think of this particular forum, it is for announcements and feedback obviously since it is not coding related the counting of posts would be illogical. cg9com 12-16-2002, 05:28 PM but isnt it still a post? i think any post counting is illogical scroots 12-16-2002, 06:34 PM cg9com i think life is illogical so it makes sense scroots Mhtml 12-17-2002, 04:56 AM I believe that your view on life being illogical is higly illogical. Without life there is obviously death if you are dead you can not do anything but decompose, you can not help others or better yourself in any way. |
