Hi All,

I came up with a new issue/question.

I have seen in many sites that when I enter my username/password, it displays a new page wherein it says "Verifying Username/Password. Please wait..."

I wonder what does it do behind the scene? Does it really take 5-6 seconds to verify a username/password? if yes, what code runs behind it? If no, then why they have to display that page?

I think the authentication process normally does not take more than 1 second.

What do u say about this?

Thanx

It may be put in place because if the site gets busy, or for people on slow connections it may take a little more time than for others.

By outputting the message atleast the user knows that something is happening rather than the page just hanging.

It could also just be because the designer likes that method of scripting and may also like design such as loading messages

so you mean there is no special code going in the background when tha "loading" page is displayed?

Not for standard user/pass scripts. It may take longer if the script is connecting to an external site to gather information.
