2003 Outlook Not Responding

I am using Windows XP 2005 Media edition SP2. 95% of the time when I choose a mail action (new, reply, forward, delete etc), the computer hangs up for anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute or more. Windows task manager shows "not responding". Ironically, opening WTM sometimes solves the problem. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Recently, MS has released a number of patches for MS Office....some of which deal with security holes in outlook.

I would personally recommend using Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/). You will be much safer etc.

I have installed all the patches available to date. Thank you for the Thunderbird recommendation. I will try it out. Anything to end my frustration.
