hello everybody...i was wondering if anyone knew of a script that would check an address and allow a response if the page timed out or a 404 error.

for instance a surfer would clink a link or button and the javascript would check to see if the page was available. if it was it would continue on but if not then maybe an alert window saying site down or a redirected html page saying site down.

maybe using the browser redirect call and storing it to a variable and then testing that variable.

once again thanks for your time.

that would only work, if they were your pages. otherwise, no.

i think joh6nn means that the files on the person's computer made by microsoft, or whatever browser's makers you are using, but i have seen pages like what you are talking about, don't know how to do it, but like look at this page, not real but google still says this page doesn't exit
www.google.com/blahblahblah.html
