View Full Version : Fill Empty Space On Right

I want to be able to create a div layer.

Start it at 850 pixels - set it to 100% (width and height) and fill it with black.

When I do this, it only expands to a height of the first window. If the user scrolls down, the layer doesn't expand as I expected it would.

What is the best answer?

Thanks,
Keith

I put it here because I am guessing that you need to put some type of pixel shim.

This is something that I have done in tables, but would like to make the jump to layers.

If there is a better forum, let me know which one, I will post there

Hi, this is a CSS question, so you'd do best to check that forum. You might find something already there that addresses this kind of issue (it's an ongoing problem for browsers).

Using divs and CSS should let you get away from the pixel shim trick all together.

So you want to set the width to 850px then you want it to expand to 100%? It sounds like you just want to have left and right margins.
