Can anyone help me with my problem with my scanner, it is a Agfa SnapScan 1212P Parallel port Scanner and after scanning in 3 images last night it seemed to give up the ghost. I tried a 4th at 900dpi and the output went into loads of different colours. The first 3 were perfect, each time i scanned the image I increased the dpi (200 to 500 to 700). Then at 900dpi it went belly-up! Then i turned it off at the mains, tried it again and it worked. Is this a common scanner problem? Any way to fix it? Agfa no longer support this scanner, their scanner business stopped in 2001.

After you restarted the scanner, did you scan your image at 700 dpi or 900 dpi?

It sounds like the software wasn't clearing the previous scans from memory before you did the fourth scan. It's also possible that it's a glitch that you'll never see again. Try closing the scanner program and re-launching it after a scan or two to clear the memory. You shouldn't have to resort to hardware reboots except for last-ditch efforts.
