Ok, I have no idea whats going on. I wanted to try out this old book I found on Visual Basic and DirectX 8. The first step is to reference DirectX 8 for Visual Basic Type Library. I dont have that option and I've installed DirectX 8 maby 10 times and restarted my computer just as many times. I dont know why its not working and I can't find any information on it anywhere, it seems its just supposed to work.
someone please help me if you can!

Did you install the DirectX 8 (or 9, it has it too) SDK? Otherwise that option won't appear with the standard DirectX installer.

yes, i used the direct x 8 SDK. I used the one that came on the cd with the book so I couldn't screw it up.

And along with the SDK did you install the developer's version of the DirectX runtime?
