Need some help / advice on search

Hi all,

I am still very new to coding and need a bit of help and guidance on how to create a search form. I am looking to create something very similar to the search facility used on WhatCar.com on my website. I have never created a form / database before so i haven't got a clue where to start.

So what do i need to do? can i create it with HTML or do i have to use something like JavaScript?

yeah, im sorry. I just wasnt really sure where i should place the post as i have never really attempted a search form before so don't know what it entails. I won't do it again:) Promise
