View Full Version : exe file version - how to write to it

Hi. I think this is the right place to ask since the exe file I have is a compiled bunch of html files. If not, I apologise.

My question is simple. How do programmers make an exe file which includes the VERSION tab i.e. I want to add file version, company, copyright info etc. to the exe? I can compile the html files to an exe no problem but can't add the info.

I've searched and searched, but there appears to be no software set up to do it (but there must be...)

What does the exe do? Does it just extract files?

Yes, that's all it does - it extracts files to a temp directory and fires up a predetermined start .html page.

I can add an icon to it (well, replace the default one), but I can't see a way to add the other info.

What did you use to create it?

Thing called HTML2EXE Baler 2.0 (which I bought for the purpose). It's simple - maybe too simple - and works well. But no options to add the VERSION info etc.

Maybe I could use a hex editor? But I don't know exactly where to drop the info. Are there tutorials out there on this?
