Event Logging

I am having a big problem with Palm's Hotsync not working...

Support as usual is useless.


I know the connection is fine, I use IR and sometimes USB... both don't work...

The palm syncs to other computers, just not the one I need....


So I want to see what the App is or Isn't seeing...

Is there any Events logging other than

Event Viewer built into XP? (which it doesn't log to )


I want to see if the program even aknowledges the sync or not.

I also had this problem with my palm, what I did was download the latest version of software from the handspring (the make of my handheld) website and then just reinstall the new version.

All works well now and I have had no problems.

Done about a million times in every concievable way.

Have you tested to make sure that your pc has not lost the ability to see usb devices?

Also, do you use a virus scanner? The reason I ask is I use the latest version of mcafee virus scan, and that uploads a palm app to your pda to stop virus, and sometimes that can corrupt data and stop synchronisation.

Yes (when I tried USB) and No


What I did find out:

The IR port is functioning, and Hotsync CAN tell if it's busy.


Also installed the Palm CDK to see if I can debug this...
Hotsync loads without errors, but never sees that a hotsync operation was started... THAT is why it's not syncing...

The question is what can I do to fix that? And of course, why did it break.
