Hello,
I feel a bit out of my depth in this forum because I wouldn't know where to begin with proper hard-core programming... but, I thought this might be the best place to start asking this question. If I produced a web site for a client who simply wants me to send them the files who will install on their server, how do I produce a self-extracting application file which puts all the files in the right places etc. I assume I will need some sort of software to do this but what should I use?
Thanks in advance for any help.

use winzip :D
It can create self extracting files, with path names included so upon extraction the paths are also taken care of
otherwise use the package and deployment wizard from a visual tool like visual basic or visual c++

Thanks Roelf,
Just another quickie then... does the free version of WinZip do that, and more importantly, where can I get a copy of Visual Basic, preferably for free, to do the package and deploy file. I had in mind changing the graphics on the installation window like you see with mods for HL and the like.
Cheers,
Chris

its just an example of which infomration and shortcuts, tabstrips menubars etc. you can put on your screen. My settings are so that i only have a menu and a shortcutlist on my Commander. But the handling of archives, integrated ftp, complete keyboard controlled (if you like) is very good. On top of that, if a program works great but looks awful, i would still use it.

Total Commander (they renamed a while ago) is the best program ever, I've been using it (or their predecessors) ever since I've been using a PC and I love it.
