Hi, i would like to ask..
I'm using a cable connection.
I'm using windows xp, and i've set my IIS to PORT : 8899
to allow my friend from the internet to view my website,
i give him http://myip:8899/mappedfolder/
but it doesn't work, it is not accessible at all. Is it that there is any security setting in XP that disallowed people to access my ip?

I've done it in Windows 98 (but using abyss webserver and set the port to 8899) and it works pretty well, my friend can access it through the internet.. anyone can solve my prob?

You can PM me.

xp has a built in firewall which could prevent your friend from accessing the pages. Also the security settings for the site could be set to a strict mode where anonymous login is not allowed.
What is the error message he gets?

First of all, your friend should go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and uncheck "Show friendly HTTP error messages".

"The page cannot be displayed" gives you no idea of the actual error being encountered. ;)
