missing subdomain's images

I did this 6 years ago but forgot how.
I've made a subdomain and stuck an img folder in it. However, no images show on the sub's index.
<img src="img/hat.gif"> no longer works.
What did I forget?

You forgot a .htacess file... Clear out the contents of the .htacess file in "/img/".

I had to allow hotlinking to my own subdomain?
