Non animated Splash Page's

I'm starting a entirely new website, and I want to know how I should go about a using a non-animated splash page. Are there any ideas? can I see any examples?

Unless it serves a specific purpose like allowing a visitor to select the desired language or region (i.e. for international businesses) a splash page is discouraged anyway; hence, apart from the mentioned category you won't find too many of those anymore, certainly not ones that are worth serving as an example.

By the way: your assumption that most splash pages are animated is even more worrying...

First off, yes, I'm writing the page in 2 languages. Secondly, where did I give the indication that I thought most splash pages are animated? The word "most" doesn’t even appear in my post. I just merely wanted to see a specific idea on a non-animated splash page, since I know that animated ones also exist.

Do understand that splash pages are rarely found nowadays, even in the case previously mentioned; I tried a couple of known internationally operating company sites and even these go directly to the home page, with a language selection offered in one of the sidebars.

Splash pages are generally considered a nuisance and an unnecessary delay for the visitor; they rarely offer functionality that can't be offered inside the site inself.

The fact that you specifically asked for non-animated splash pages seemed to indicate to me that you expected the majority to be of the animated kind (which may not be too far beside the truth); likely a misinterpretation on my side. Nonetheless, I recommend you not to react in such an oversensitive manner.

Lastly, a completely unbiased search on Google using the keywords "splash pages" yields some interesting reading (http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=splash+pages&meta=) which might give you an idea of the general opinion about splash pages--and maybe even some usable examples.
