View Full Version : Posting Form -> new window, specific frame

I am posting a form to a third party app. At this point, I have an onclick event on the form button that opens a new window with a specific html (which is blank except for the title). I have named that window and when the form is submitted the target is set to the new window name. Everything is fine, except the window's title show the location along with the querystring, which is messy. Basically, I want to eliminate that and so this is my thought process:

1. OnClick- open new window with specified options and set the page to my blank page (blank.htm) which has two frames. The top one being my brand, the bottom one blank for now.
2. When submitted (the form method is "post" - has to be) set the target to the new window, but the specific frame (the blank part)

This way, I can control the Title of the window and no one is the wiser.

First off, is this possible. Second, is there an easier way to accomplish this.

*note*
The set back here is the third party posting. The page it is sent to has to grab the form values. I have tried to open a new window, grab the form values and "re-post" those values to the third party as a querystring, but it doesn't take querystring.

Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

This is an example of what I have right now.

<form name="ccoptin" target="myWindow" method="post" action="http://thirdpartyurl">
<tr>
<td>
<input type="text" name="ea" class="signupfield">
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit" onClick="window.open('blank.htm','myWindow','width=600,height=500')">
</td>
</tr>
</form>

Which, as I said, works fine except for the window title. My blank.htm page sets the title to what I want, but obviously when I target "myWindow" it changes pages to the results of the form post.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure if this is even a javascript question, but does anyone if what I want can be accomplished or where I could better search for an answer?

Thanks
