Are you looking for recommendations for FTP software? Answers to questions on how to use the software you already have? Something else? A little more detail would help.

Well I use SmartFTP and it is pretty straight forward. There are three boxes at the top where you type in your FTP Server (ftp.yoursite.com), the second is for your username (likely the username you use to normally edit your site via the web), and then your password (also likely the password you use to normally edit your site via the web). And before you try and connect just make your all your details are correct and that the "Anonymous" box is NOT checked off.
If you did it correctly it should connect and then give you a listing of your sites home directory. Now heres the annoying part about SmartFTP, it doesn't have a built in file browser for your files on your computer. So I find it easiest to just open Windows Explorer, locate the file/folder you want to transfer to your site, then click and drag it over to your SmartFTP Window, and it will automatically begin to upload it to your site.
Hope this helps! If not try http://www.smartftp.com/support/howto/. Or you can always PM me!
If you use Firefox you can also try downloading the Fire FTP Extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/684/) for it, it's a built in FTP Client. To access it just go to the Tools menu I believe it is and it should appear right there once you have downloaded and installed it.
Good Luck!
