First time poster- please excuse my errors.

I'm working on a dropdown menu that
1.) won't pull down in Internet Explorer, and
2.)drops but won't drop "over the edge" of the container div in Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape & Opera. The whole div expands to make room for the pull-down.

Would like to correct these using CSS and no javascript.

The dropdown is the in the first link in the horizontal menu bar.

This is my initial try at css and dropdowns and I would greatly appreciate some pointers as to what I am doing wrong.
I'm trying to follow insturctions from the book by Charles Wyke-Smith: "Stylin' with CSS".

Thank you

The page can be seen here, view source for code:

Your problem is that the ul that is to drop down is part of the document flow. To make it not so, add 'position: absolute; top: 100%; z-index: 1;' to your 'li:hover ul' declaration block.

take a look at http://cssplay.co.uk/menus/drop_definition4.html

no javascript required but some heavy code to make some browsers work right

Thank you 1212jtraceur and harbingerOTV for your excellent help and for taking the time to respond.

I must have redone the whole page ten times and was really stuck. I never would have figured this out on my own.

Thank you so very much.

(I just can't stop clicking on the dropdown in IE now that is is working)
