View Full Version : XMHHttpRequest and ASMX

Hi guys,

I'm currently trying to develop an online registration system that integrates with an "account creation system".

Looking at the examples provided by the manufacturer of the account creation system, using it is fairly straightforward. For example, to check if an account already exists, I create a form with two text fields, with these IDs: BackupServer, and UserName. The action for this form is "action='http://localhost/AccountCreationService/Service.asmx/AccountExists'" and the method is POST.

From here, it starts to get more complicated for me. The results are in XML:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<boolean xmlns="http://novastor.com/AccountCreationService_Server/">true</boolean>

Basically, I'm a total noob to XML, and I'm not sure how to collect this information and use it.

The answer is "true" in this case because I entered a username that already exists.

I've looked at XMLHttpRequest, but I can't figure out how to format the information correctly in http.send().

Basically, all that I need to do is redirect to a registration page if the answer is "true", and redirect to a "that username is not available" page or alert on the previous form.

Can anyone help?

Looks like a web service to me.
Google: csharp consume web service.

I found this rather nice excerpt from a book.
