I have recently purchased a'Gigabyte GA-7VKMLS S/V/L' motherboard along with 950MHz Duron Processor and a Western Digital 20 Gig Harddrive. I have assembled the computer and have it running what I thought was fine. I can access the bios setup as well as boot from the Windows XP Professional CD. After allowing Windows XP to format the hardrive I chose to have it install. It started to install however soon came to a stop error reading "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I get this error repeatly as I continued to reboot and start from scratch in installing Windows XP to the system. What do you recommend? Thanks for any time.

Do you have another system you can test each part? The first thing you should do is find out which piece is the source of your problem.

er so it starts copying files before you get the error? it would probably be best to just format the drive prior.. (you did run fdisk before trying to install, right?) Just get a windows 98 boot disk or somethin and load up the command prompt and format the drive that way..isntead of having windows xp do it, also there could be somethin bugged out on your cd..
but uh yeh I think there is a chance that it might be something with the memory too, make sure that it is in properly and such..and pay attention when the computer boots, look at the amount of memory it detects as well as the processor speed, if something isnt installed properly you will get hardware errors galore.

What I would also subject is that you take out all unnecessary hardware like sound cards cd burns network cards etc and run the system on the bare minimum, so all you need is the cdrom, video card and if you can that is it.
Try installing xp then and see what happens, if it works there is an incompatibility with some piece of your hardware, also you should try resetting your bios. Look for cmos clear in your bios manual, hopefully that will give you some joy.
