Forum Install and Intergration

hi all,

I currently have a database that contains username and password, email address and real name..

Users are able to login from my site and it sets a session ..

I wish to get a forum installed, PHPBB, SMF, etc ... however when you login to the site it also logs you into forum.. and when you register to site or forum it registers you for both.

You can either use the same database or have two seperate databases, dont mind aslong as you only need to register/sign in once...
