setting up my own news server and subscribing to posts...

Okay, this might be a novice question, but in all the years I never found the need to use newsgroups. I have a potential client and I will need to know how to run a news server for the contract. I just set up IIS and even added dummy newsgroups, tested it from outlook and it all works fine. But how do I get the messages posted to other servers mirrored to mine? I thought all servers hosting the same newsgroup have the same content on them?

For example, I set up a newsgroup named php.announce and it sits empty. How do I get all the messages posted to the PHP servers to also be on my server too?

Maybe I am missing some facts about the way this works?

Try looking on www.usenet.org you may find your answer there; additionally, since Google hosts Usenet messages through Google Groups, you may also consider asking them "how to".

Good-luck!

I have since found out the term for what I am looking for, how do I make a news server pull from a "news feed" and where do I find the feed?
