I use phpBB on my website www.brokenbindings.com. I think it is a great forum and is easy to install. Best of all its free. It has a good community behind it at www.phpBB.com which can help you with problems and has tons of cool moderations to the board. Check it out: www.phpBB.com

phpBB is used pretty commonly, I like it and would also recomend it!

The and templates mods that you can get are really nice too.

But I would go with VBulletin now, because I just saw an amazing Vbulletin template which is superb, I think it is at www.directpixel.com - wonderful.
