Updating Wordpress Plugins not showing in git

I've set-up git on my web server (NOT GITHUB).

I have just installed a Wordpress Plug-in on the live website and added some media. I've not gone to work on this locally and have performed a git fetch, however I cannot see any media or plugins.

If I FTP into the website they are all there (obviously).

Git is saying my local repo is up to date. I then performed a clone and they are still not there.

So when updating website through live Wordpress it isn't adding the changes to the repo.

What could be the problem ?

The remote repo was up to date from the local repo, however when Wordpress uploads files or adds new add ons, it doesn't commit to the remote repo. so you have to ssh into the site and add all and then commit.

    git add .
git commit -m "wordpress plugin updates"
Back on your local repo you just need to do a fetch and rebase.

    git rebase
