Are there security issues when using Ajax ?

When using Ajax, to what I must pay special attention to, to protect it from hacking ?

What are the common security issues and how can they be prevented ?

Just remember that the target file of the ajax call (your PHP script or whatever) can be accessed directly from a URL so you should have some way of handling that situation, so bots can't attack the script directly and exploit your site.

A quick google search "ajax security concerns" pointed to a few interesting articles but my above statement summarizes most of them

There may be other issues I don't yet know about so hopefully others will chime in here to help us all learn.
