Creating timed-deletion messages?
I'm looking for a way to automatically delete user-sent messages from a database after a user-defined time limit has been met or exceeded. What would be the easiest way to accomplish this? The time limit is set using an input element with the value of the type attribute as range, it can be anywhere from 0 (message won't be deleted) to 60 seconds (message will delete in 60 seconds).
Would it be easier to accomplish this server-side or client side? I was thinking about adding a 'self_destruct' field to the messages table and checking the sent field against the self destruct field.Coding is a challenge, get used to it
Always remember to debug
Try the guess & check method
Break it down into simple steps

Server-side. I'm assuming, of course, that the messages are being stored in a database.
If that's the case, some SS languages have Scheduled Tasks (ColdFusion, for sure) that can be run to check time and perform "clean up".
If anyone knows of a website that can offer ColdFusion help that isn't controlled by neurotic, pedantic jerks* (stackoverflow.com), please PM me with a link.
